SIP

Typical applications:  IP PBX, Virtual IP PBX, Hosted PBX, Business class VoIP

SIP (Session Initiated Protocal) or SIP Trunking is primarily a concurrent call that is routed over the IP backbone of a carrier using VoIP technology.  SIP Trunks are used in conjunction with an IP PBX and are thought of as replacements for traditional PRI or analog circuits (sometimes referred to as Virtual IP PBX).  The popularity of SIP packages is due primarily to the cost savings of SIP services along with the increased reliability, which is backed by a Service Level Agreement with the provider.

Business SIP Trunking is a single conduit for multimedia elements (voice, video and data).  SIP service reduces or eliminates the need for public switched telephone network (PSTN) media gateways and narrow-band voice circuits.  SIP Trunking provides a smart and cost-effective solution to customers by eliminating the need to purchase additional equipment (i.e., managed media gateway devices).

SIP Trunking provides the following benefits:

  • Works with any SIP Supported device
  • No need to invest in costly Time Division Multiplexing (TDM)  equipment infrastructure or desktop equipment
  • No need for equipment changeover or service disruptions
  • Additional cost savings may be realized through converged access

There are many new players to the SIP Trunking marketplace, many of which offer many different solutions.  So it is important to contact a SIP consultant to ensure your business uses a reputable SIP provider.  Let TelecomMedic help you determine the best SIP solution for your business by contacting an expert today.
