Mobile Wireless Data Cards

Typical applications:  Remote Workers, Remote Access, Small Office/Home Office workers

Mobile wireless data cards (also known as air cards, mobile broadband cards, or connect cards) are devices that connect to a laptop, PDA, or cell phone and allows the user to connect to wide area wireless Internet access.  Cards are connected to your mobile gadget using an available USB port, PCMCIA card slot, or ExpressCard slot.  A wireless internet card enables users to have Internet access without having to rely on hot spot availability, access to a phone line for dial-up, or sharing a wired connection at a job site.

An access service plan is required (normally through a cell phone service provider).  It is often a good idea to go with an unlimited access plan as usage is hard to track and overages can often be quite expensive.

Many companies that employ a mobile workforce require their employees to have access to the internet wherever their travels take them.  Mobile wireless cards are the solution to that problem.

Many companies are finding that using mobile wireless cards with a wireless router is a more cost effective solution for their business than the traditional DSL or Cable Modem.  Setting up this network infrastructure is as easy as plugging a wireless air card into a wireless router, which makes it a great solution if temporary office spaces do not have the necessary wiring to provide a more traditional solution.
